Securing Freshwater with Solar Power: A Global Effort from Nordics to the Pacific
Our O&M partners from the Pacific visited Finland to deepen their expertise in energy-efficient water treatment equipment. Local partners are a crucial part of our ability to serve customers worldwide. We also had the pleasure of having Danfoss tech specialists provide training with us.Our sales and service partner, Sustainable Water Systems, from the Pacific region had the opportunity to enjoy the Nordic summer in August. The primary reason for their visit was to take part in training and get tips and tricks on the latest features in operating and maintaining solar-powered desalination systems.
We are committed to ensuring that our customers receive the quickest possible assistance in case of any issues. Expert partners operating around the world are a vital part of our service. That’s why we regularly provide maintenance training.
Sustainable Water Management Solutions for the Pacific Region
The remote islands of the Pacific are suffering from the effects of climate change. Freshwater sources on these islands are scarce, and with rising sea levels, they are at risk of becoming saline. However, the islands have an abundance of sunlight, making our solar-powered desalination devices an excellent solution to the islands’ clean water challenges.
While remote monitoring and online connections to Solar Water Solutions are part of the solution, our local partners are indispensable.
Our service partner from Tuvalu, Teitala Ailesi, gained valuable knowledge during his visit to Finland.
“The clean water situation in the Pacific remote islands is challenging, but thanks to training like this, we can ensure that any potential equipment issues won’t lead to prolonged disruptions in safe drinking water supply,” Ailesi says.
Teitala Ailesi with his team is operating decentralized SWRO units in the Pacific atoll islands. Here Solar Water Solutions’ Head of Manufacturig, Toni Korttila, tells about our SolarRO SW18 models key features. This compact models daily capacity powered with direct solar energy is 6,4 m3 (in 8-solar hours).
Danfoss Technology Support in Every Project
We also had the opportunity to share expertise on specific key components, as our technology partners from Danfoss provided our O&M collaborators with an excellent intensive course on the functionalities of high-pressure pumps.
Danfoss support is integral to all our projects. Even in the most remote locations and harsh conditions, such as the atoll islands of the Pacific, assistance is always available through online support.
“We share a common goal with Solar Water Solutions: to provide environmentally-friendly clean drinking water services to those who need it most. That’s why it’s great to share the latest knowledge about the use and maintenance of our products,” says Hannu Salovaara, Sales Manager at Danfoss.
Toni Korttila from Solar Water Solutions sees many advantages in using Danfoss APP pumps in remote settings,
“Zero risk of oil lubricant contamination, efficient axial piston design, and all-stainless steel construction ensure exceptionally long life (service intervals up to 8,000 hours). Service is easy, and can be carried out on-site due to few parts. All parts are made of high corrosion-resistant materials, Duplex and Super Duplex. “
